Hello everyone,
I am planning to redecorate my son’s bedroom and am considering the IKEA Pax wardrobe. My question is: Is the IKEA Pax wardrobe really suitable for a child’s room?
I am particularly interested in whether the wardrobe is safe enough for children (keyword: anti-tip protection), if the interior layout is flexible enough for changing storage needs (clothes, toys), and whether the material and craftsmanship are durable enough for a child’s room, where furniture can sometimes be treated a bit roughly.
I would appreciate it if you could share your experiences or concerns, and also any suggestions for alternatives if the Pax might not be ideal.
Thank you in advance!

From my own experience, I can confirm that sliding doors are well suited for children's rooms, but only if they are properly installed and maintained. Once repaired, they last a long time.
It is worth choosing the soft-close version right from the start.
Regarding harmful substances: IKEA states that the Pax is made without harmful chemicals, which was a crucial factor for me in the children's room.

Although the Pax is generally suitable, it is important to check whether it fits into the room layout. It is often quite dominant, which can quickly make the children’s room look visually crowded. Smaller wardrobes with children’s room designs might offer advantages in this case.
Thank you all, your explanations are very helpful. Especially the advice regarding tilt-locking and sliding doors was useful.
One last question: Are there common mistakes when assembling Pax that I should watch out for? I would be interested in any typical issues during installation before I get started.

Good morning,
The following points are important during assembly:
- Make sure that the back panels are perfectly flush; otherwise, the cabinet will be unstable.
- Do not overtighten the screws, as this can warp the wood.
- For sliding doors, align the tracks precisely; otherwise, the doors may stick.
A tip: Read through the entire instruction manual carefully before starting and sort the parts beforehand. This will help you avoid common mistakes.
