Hello everyone,

We received a quote from a home builder.
The electrical work is estimated at 16,500 euros.
According to the building specification, this includes the following:

Technical page of a manual with section 10.01 Electrical Installation and 10.02 Equipment.

Page listing sockets and switches on the ground and attic floors by room.

Are the estimated costs in the quote realistic for this scope?
I’m asking because the builder offers the option to remove the electrical work from the contract and subcontract it separately.
Since we would like to have a KNX installation, we find this option interesting. However, it’s important for us to know whether we would have to expect significantly higher costs for the basic installation if we outsource it.

Best regards

@Knöpfchen An additional network outlet costs 110 Euro, an additional TV outlet 140 Euro, and a double power socket 90 Euro.

@RotorMotor If we exclude the electrical work, we need to specify the time required by us or our electrician for the installation. This will then be reflected accordingly in the schedule. However, if the timeframe is exceeded, the entire construction process will be delayed. Other than that, it should not be problematic.

Regarding KNX, our main focus is on the standard features first (lighting, shading, windows, heating control [if necessary]). It is also very important to us that the installation can be expanded at any time. I want to learn how to configure it myself and carry it out accordingly.
Regarding the budget, I have read several times here that a KNX installation, planned from scratch, does not necessarily have to be much more expensive than a standard electrical installation. However, we have set a budget of 30,000 Euro for the KNX addition.

We are now starting the electrical planning as well. Today, I received the prices for the following additional services:
Socket outlet: €42.84
Switch: €53.55
Network cable CAT7 including CAT6a outlet: €176.12

It's difficult for me to assess these costs since I lack reference values, and current supply shortages, the war, inflation, and other factors also play a role.

Wow. Is the contractor sure he wants to win you as a customer and not deliberately drive you away?
In my case, according to the installment in the construction contract, almost 10,000 EUR are budgeted for electrical work, and I have at least 2 to 3 more sockets in every room than in your offer. In the children’s room, only 2 single sockets? It’s common to have 2 single and 2 double sockets.
