Hi everyone,
I was at the construction site today and was a bit surprised at how deep our house is set... maybe the site is playing tricks on me, but I looked it up and most houses have the finished floor level about 30cm (12 inches) above ground level.
If the slab is really too low, that would explain why we have so much excavation. (The architect said during planning that there wouldn’t be much excavation and it could be spread on the property.)
Regards,
Marvin

It’s hard to tell, but I would estimate the finished concrete slab is about 20-30cm (8-12 inches) lower than the curb edge. Then there’s the screed on top, but I’m probably still below ground level. Even if the slab is flush with the drain, it would be nearly impossible to create a slope away from the house, or am I mistaken? If it were any lower, it would already be too late. That ship has sailed. Your site manager should use the leveling tool to check the height and tell you the finished floor level. You can then calculate the rest yourself based on the planned floor build-up.
If the general contractor followed the specifications set by the architect that you approved (for example, the drain height) with a deviation of plus or minus a few centimeters (inches), then no problem.
But as I said, stay relaxed—30cm (12 inches) minus the floor build-up is nothing. In the best case, you are even at ground level and don’t need a raised platform.

Even if the slab is flush with the drain cover, it seems nearly impossible to create a slope away from the house there, or am I mistaken?Your sewer pipe doesn’t end right at the top of the drain cover, does it... but rather inside the manhole, possibly 2m (6.5 ft) deep.
