Is it advisable to lower the heat pump temperature by 2 degrees between 10 PM and 5 AM (Monday to Friday) and between 11 PM and 8 AM (Saturday/Sunday)?

That means when the temperature drops, the pump initially has to work to raise the flow temperature.

But only if the house has cooled down, for example due to unnecessary nighttime setback.

If the pump runs continuously, it has less work to do. It only needs to compensate for the slightly higher heat losses caused by the cooler outside temperatures—not run at full capacity in the morning to make up for what was lost during the night.

…and the heat pump, at least mine, operates based on a smoothed outside temperature. Once properly calibrated, as described in Berny’s post, it should really regulate itself automatically. Mine only briefly "loses track" and becomes too warm or too cold during sudden and all-day sun exposure or extreme temperature fluctuations.

This is due to the low flow temperatures and the resulting large thermal masses.
