Solar panels are now commonly seen on roofs everywhere, which gave me the idea to possibly install a system on my own house. The roof has a 35-degree pitch facing southeast, and about 12 solar panels would fit. I could get them very cheaply for around 5000 euros. The question is whether it is cost-effective. The three of us use about 4000 kilowatt-hours of electricity per year. After how many years would the system pay for itself?
