ᐅ Is it possible to modify Ikea Brimnes doors to create additional storage space?

Simple fabric bags attached with Velcro or magnets are relatively easy to implement and gentle on the door. For more storage space and sturdier shelves, the doors need to be significantly reinforced or, as recommended, completely replaced.

In summary, I understand that Brimnes doors, due to their thin material, are designed for light, flat, and minimally stressed additions, but larger installations require very careful reinforcements that may not be achievable without professional knowledge. I will probably start with fabric solutions and might try building custom shelves from lightweight wood with internal brackets. Still, the advice that one shouldn’t expect too much from standard Ikea doors is very helpful — also to avoid unrealistic plans.
