Hello, is it possible to lower the floor construction to gain more ceiling height?
My building planner originally designed with standard height hollow brick blocks, and that is still my biggest issue and very frustrating.

My current construction has a total height of 18cm (7 inches): 10mm (0.4 inches) vapor barrier, 70mm (3 inches) thermal insulation with a thermal conductivity of 0.035 W/(m·K), 30mm (1.2 inches) insulation fixing board, 65mm (2.6 inches) cement screed with underfloor heating, and 5mm (0.2 inches) PVC flooring with leveling compound.

I would also like to replace the insulation with a better one, which has a thickness of 60mm (2.4 inches) (Puren PIR MV-SE).

Is this possible overall, how many centimeters of height can be gained, and what costs should be expected?
I assume the biggest challenge will be that doors and stairs may also need to be adjusted?

I didn’t consider the moisture issue.
Reading it like this, it seems like a huge effort; I had thought it would be much simpler.
How much height can actually be gained with my current floor structure of 18cm (7 inches)?

The minimum build-up height with very good insulation is about 73-75mm (3 inches) (yes, with underfloor heating) without the final floor covering.
So you can save around 10cm (4 inches) if you optimize everything. I mean really everything that is technically possible: 20mm (0.8 inches) vacuum insulation panels (equivalent to about 100mm (4 inches) EPS insulation, thermal conductivity 0.035 W/mK), studded membrane for underfloor heating, and cast asphalt screed.
If you deviate from this, the construction will be thicker and you will save less. Without underfloor heating, costs start at over 200€ per square meter (approximately $/£/AU$ since currency is variable) ...

Wow, I didn’t expect that you could lower it this much, so 5cm (2 inches) is easily possible with a standard construction, right?
If I were to actually do this, I would need to use better insulation. My current ceiling height is around 2.46 to 2.47 meters (8 ft 1 in to 8 ft 2 in).

And that is worth around 20,000 euros to you? People are strange.

Then your idea is completely pointless. No, not pointless, rather a very costly gimmick, since you have a completely standard ceiling height. You could consider it if it were 220 cm (87 inches) or less.
But spending a mid five-figure sum in euros at that height? Nonsense.

Thank you for your opinions, now I have a better understanding.
How much can the screed be ground down if I only replace the floor covering with a thicker one that has better impact sound insulation?
