Hello everyone,
my neighbor suggested that I lay the sewage pipes (KG pipes) directly in gravel.
Is this feasible, or does it have to be sand? Does gravel damage the KG pipes? Are there any standards or regulations for this? I thought KG pipes are stable enough to be bedded in gravel.
Thank you very much and best regards from BaWü

A trailer load of sand might cost around 30€ (euros). Well.

That may be true. But you save on renting a trailer, time, and €30. And if the gravel is at the neighbor’s place, who says I could have it, then I just ask. Because maybe someone here can give me a definite answer.

We also installed the pipes in crushed stone.

Only the water, electricity, and internet service lines at the building entrance were laid in compacted sand.

Thank you for your reply. Okay, what was the reason for choosing gravel instead of the usual sand in your case?

There is a good reason why a compacted sand bed is always laid for earthworks involving pipes, soakaways, and similar installations.

I would definitely avoid using gravel.

Yes, the question is whether it is solely a matter of price or if gravel can be life-threatening for a KG pipe.
