Julia87Good evening everyone,
we are currently building a new house and are now about to grout the facing bricks. Since the person applying the grout couldn’t mix a nice cement gray color, we decided to use a ready-mixed mortar from the brand quick-mix. However, this involves an additional cost. We understand the extra charge for the material itself. The applicator, though, says there is also an additional fee for the labor because grouting with a ready-mixed mortar is more complex.
However, no one has been able to properly explain this to us.
Can anyone help?

Well, you just can’t explain it! From an expert’s point of view: it’s simply nonsense! On the contrary, it is easier (saves time) because with each bag you always get the same result.

We only had to pay the (small) additional cost for the bulk material.
But it was definitely worth it to us for a deep black joint. Thank you very much for the information. I understand that the amount of material depends on the size of the house. However, may I ask approximately how much the additional cost was? Unfortunately, we received almost no details about what was offset against the contract services, so we don’t even know if the extra cost for the material was reasonable.

We apply additional grouting afterwards... but the installers here prefer bagged materials.Interesting! Thanks
