ᐅ Is a fine plaster finish (Q2 lime-cement or gypsum) sufficient for living spaces?

Hello everyone
I am currently trying to familiarize myself with the topic of house construction and keep coming across some confusing questions. For example:
I have a building specification that states all living rooms will have fine plaster (quality Q2 cement-lime or gypsum plaster) applied to the walls. Nowadays, it is common to use plaster instead of wallpaper on walls. Would this type of plaster be suitable for that purpose, or does it require additional treatment, such as a different kind of plaster? Or does it definitely need to be painted or wallpapered afterward (the walls are intended to be white anyway)?
If a different type of plaster is needed, can it be applied directly, or does the fine plaster always have to be used as a kind of base coat?

This has already been coated with Sto Sil. Final condition. This is how we live. The Q2 looked completely different.
Question regarding this: Is this the "StoSil Struktur Medium" mentioned above with brush application? We are still considering whether and what kind of texture to apply (on our Q2 lime-cement plaster), perhaps more towards a spotty grain texture or a fine brushed ribbed texture.

I can’t imagine that this patchwork of coarse textured plaster and fine filler looks good... That’s exactly right: you can see where it has been sanded. The surface looks completely different than where it is rough. We have a wall like that too.

Q2 in raking lightThat is perfectly fine.

That is totally fine.I am completely satisfied with it as well. You might see some streaks along the edges, but I don’t find that problematic.
In the guest bathroom, we patched some areas with plaster and then sanded it... after applying latex paint, every imperfection shows, even though the surface is smooth.

Q2 in raking lightIf it had looked so even and without major dents for us, I would have left it as well, it looks good.
For us, the surface was not completely even to begin with, and the large dents had to be repaired—they ended up completely smooth while the rest was more or less textured...
