Hello,

we have received a quote for an oak parquet floor. It is what is called engineered parquet. Now I am a bit unsure. Can I imagine it like laminate flooring? With “edges” or joints between the individual planks? What else should be considered? Is the price difference compared to “solid” parquet very significant?

-> Is multilayer parquet the same as what is called “engineered parquet”?

We chose engineered bamboo flooring because we definitely wanted 'real' wood underfoot. However, having solid wood flooring installed was too expensive for us.
Engineered flooring, installed like laminate, is somewhat loose as a result. So it creaks when you walk on it, and you can sometimes feel the joints – but that has never bothered me. It is definitely better than plastic laminate flooring.

My natural plastic laminate. Is it not possible to edit this here?

I also have "pre-finished hardwood flooring"—though a somewhat higher quality and not a no-name DIY store product. There is absolutely no creaking, and it feels very solid. The adhesive installation was especially important to us. I have no use for floating floor installations.

Is it correct to call bamboo wood? Actually, it’s a type of grass :-D

With good quality finished flooring, you can’t tell the difference.
