Hello everyone,
we are considering buying a house and have a question about the discoloration on the building.
The discoloration appears on every floor along the intermediate ceilings around the house and on the roller shutter boxes. The floor slabs are made of concrete, and I suspect that the concrete remains particularly cold compared to the rest of the masonry, which causes condensation to form exactly at these spots, leading to organic deposits over the years. Or do you think this might be something more serious?
The house was built in 1995 and does not have additional external insulation. In addition, the previous owners reportedly rarely ventilated and heated the house irregularly.
We would appreciate your helpful opinions.
Good luck Scharlie

this looks just like at our new house. There, shrinkage cracks were repaired, and the painter used a wrong RAL white shade, making it look like water damage, just like in your case.
What does the owner say? Basically, you are asking questions about a house built in 1995. It would be advisable to spend some money and have a building inspector go through the house with you.
Some people have been grateful after such an inspection.

Thank you for your reply. However, I don’t think this is a wrong shade applied by a painter, as I know from the sellers that nothing has ever been done to the facade. It is also worth noting that the roller shutter boxes are affected as well. What may not be very clear in the photo is that it does not appear to be caused by human intervention.
Are there any other theories?
