In some rooms of my house, I chose cork flooring – partly because I always heard that cork is especially warm underfoot. We installed the floor ourselves, and it turned out very nice and looks good. However, unfortunately, it is not warm underfoot. What could be the reason for this? Did we do something wrong?

Hello,
Cork is no more "warm underfoot" than wood or linoleum—at least not when you walk on it; well, maybe a little less cold in winter compared to tiles.

You hear this claim all the time, and as a professional and user of wood and linoleum flooring in my own home, I always find it surprising.
The idea of being "warm underfoot" probably comes more from marketing than reality.

Hi Liesetrleuchte,

it’s true that there are different opinions about cork. But most people actually like it because it is a natural product. 😀 The cork floor is in the bathroom now. It looks nice and feels so warm! 🙂 The first time I stood on it barefoot, I only realized I was barefoot when I stepped onto the tiled floor in the living room and my feet got cold.

Best regards
