Hello everyone, I am currently considering whether buying the IKEA Brimnes series is really worthwhile for DIY furniture projects. Specifically, I wonder: does BRIMNES offer sufficient quality, modular flexibility, and sturdy construction to allow for relatively easy customization and the creation of individual furniture pieces? Or is the series somewhat limited in adaptability and not very durable if it is heavily modified? I want to get a clear idea before purchasing, as I plan to use the parts as a basis for my own constructions, possibly including additional drilling or cutting. What are your experiences with BRIMNES, especially regarding DIY projects? Thanks in advance for your insights!

Brimnes is really fun to customize! ?

I was able to modify one piece into a small sideboard with a different handle style and baseboards, all easily doable and very sturdy! ?

So: Go for it! With a little patience and care, it turns out really great! If you’re unsure, feel free to ask questions—we’re here to help! ?

Just a quick note: Suitable for DIY if you are planning simple modifications. For complex renovations, it’s better to use different materials.

In summary, BRIMNES serves as a starting point in DIY furniture building due to its combination of price, accessibility, and ease of assembly. It is suitable for projects with low to medium load requirements and facilitates modifications through standardized fasteners.

However, if the user intends to make significant functional or aesthetic changes, they should carefully consider the mechanical strength. Especially drilling and modifications to load-bearing components are critical and require expertise to avoid damage. Using additional reinforcement materials can be beneficial if the user demands higher durability.

For those who value simplicity and affordability, BRIMNES is a practical choice.
