Hello everyone.
Has anyone installed an automatic camera for monitoring their construction site during the building process? Or to later create a time-lapse video from it? Is this allowed? Of course, I only want to photograph my own property, not neighboring properties or streets, etc.

To avoid any potential issues, it wouldn’t hurt to take a camera after work to document the current progress. If you want to create a time-lapse video from this, it might not work well because the angle is never exactly the same and there aren’t enough images for a proper video. Also, you wouldn’t have to visit the construction site every day.
When it comes to photography, I'm definitely not an expert. Is there no way to somehow piece it together? Personally, I wouldn't consider a time-lapse setup important, and to avoid any issues, I would prefer to skip cameras altogether from the start.
A good friend had a lot of trouble because he installed cameras (and not cheap ones at that).

I'm not really a photo and video enthusiast, but at some point, there was a time-lapse video shared here in the forum.
It was quite interesting. Unfortunately, I can't find it anymore.
I don't understand the whole discussion.
Are you asked for permission when you go to a supermarket or shopping center and see cameras mounted on the ceiling?
There is probably a small sign at the entrance stating that the store or property is under video surveillance. By entering the store despite the notice (implied consent), you accept this condition.
Therefore, I hardly believe that private property cannot be monitored and that everyone must be asked for permission first. A simple sign on the property or construction fence should be sufficient.
How do owners of doorbell systems with video function or IP cameras handle this issue?
If I have understood correctly, these systems can record. In my opinion, that would be the same.

I definitely don’t know whether this is allowed or not. As a contractor doing the work, I personally wouldn’t care. Whether Google knows about my internet activity or the homeowner sees me during my lunch break... But there are people who take this very, very seriously and even involve the courts. Better to just leave it alone to save your nerves. 😉
