Hello.
I’m not entirely sure if an energy consultant is already required for KfW 55 houses?
On the KfW website it says:
But a structural engineer can also submit the KfW application...
Can someone clarify this?
Thanks.

Plan your new property as a KfW efficiency house. Your energy consultant will assist you with this.
But a structural engineer can also submit the KfW application...
Can someone clarify this?
Thanks.

I currently have a general contractor (who is building the house) – he works together with a structural engineer. The engineer is currently preparing the thermal insulation certificate – he will also handle the KFW55 online application.
Do I still absolutely need an energy consultant?
Best regards,
Oliver

I don’t understand how you can ask such a question *after* signing the contract.
By the way, the forum rules have changed; please update your profession in your profile. Thank you!

KrustyDerClown schrieb:If the structural engineer is listed with the KfW and you have contracted them separately, then they also serve as your energy consultant, and you do not need to hire anyone else. A prerequisite is that your general contractor and the structural engineer have no financial connection beyond the usual level of a normal business relationship. So please check your building folder.

Good evening Oliver,
If the structural engineer is listed with the KfW _and_ you have contracted them separately, then they are also your energy consultant and you don’t need to hire anyone else. The condition is that your general contractor and the structural engineer have no financial relationship beyond the usual scope of business dealings! So check your construction folder.

Best regards, BauexperteJob updated, thanks for the reminder.
Not every house build goes perfectly, especially when it’s your first time. The same applies to us. KfW55 only became an issue after signing the contract.
Does the energy consultant handle the online application for KfW55, or the structural engineer? Or are they usually the same people?
Best regards,
Oliver

Bauexperte10 Jul 2016 01:11Hello Oliver,
Thank you!
That happens more often than you might think. I’m just surprised you didn’t ask your sales representative for more information, since an energy-efficient house isn’t cheap.
It’s impossible to answer generally. With one provider, the structural engineer handles both; with another, two different people do. If you want to be sure, you need to ask your contractual partner.
Best regards, Bauexperte
