Hello,

We are currently considering whether an air-to-water heat pump is economically sensible for a house that meets the 2016 Energy Saving Regulation. The energy demand for the house (145m² (1560 ft²) of living space excluding 22m² (237 ft²) of hobby room in the basement) was calculated as follows:

Building Energy Certificate: Scale from A+ to H, final and primary energy demand.

The plan is currently to install an air-to-water heat pump from alpha innotec. Ventilation for the living area will be through windows; no mechanical ventilation system is planned.

Is it advisable to rely on an air-to-water heat pump here, or would other energy sources be more economical?

Yes, generally. The more sanding, the better. The installation spacing should not exceed 10cm (4 inches). If possible, I would avoid a heat pump. The cost risk is too high. Gas or pellets are preferable despite CO2 pricing.
