Is an air conditioning system necessary for the attic with a roof pitch of 35 degrees facing south, featuring two roof windows and a dormer on the south side? The rooms on the south side, arranged from west to east, are an office, a children's room, and a bedroom.

Opinions vary widely on this. A heat pump with cooling function and a mechanical ventilation system with heat recovery will be installed.

At the moment, the plan is to at least equip the south-facing rooms in the attic and possibly also the ground floor (living/dining area) with air conditioning.

Currently, the offer only includes the Daikin Prefera series FTXM or CTXM, but I have requested the exact models to be specified. We do not intend to use the units for heating, although online the Prefera series is listed with FTXM/CTXM. The other models are categorized under Cold Region... Daikin presents it this way as well. I assume they mean the FTXM-K units in the corresponding sizes.

So I checked again and you are right. In the 2020 product catalog, they are now called Prefera, but in my 2018 copy (whoever took my 2020 catalog [probably the trainee]) they are still listed as Professional.

Everything is fine!

I just received a reply stating that he intentionally did not include the kW types, as this is a planning-related service and there are apparently people who use that information to request offers from other providers. I can understand that, even though I wouldn’t have thought of it myself. Of course, I don’t want to pay more than necessary, BUT what matters most to me is the overall package. From my side, I have a very good feeling about him, so a Daikin multi-split system should be ordered shortly.

I installed the Daikin multisplit system myself (although with Emura indoor units) and you won’t regret it.
How many indoor units are you getting?

We will have 4 indoor units as follows:
Attic:

- Child 1: approximately 12m² (130 sq ft)
- Child 2: approximately 15m² (160 sq ft)
- Parents: approximately 16m² (170 sq ft)
1st floor:
- Living/Dining/Kitchen: 30 + 22m² (320 + 240 sq ft) (kitchen is "open" with an opening of 2.50 x 2.40m (8.2 x 7.9 ft))

The outdoor unit will be installed on the roof, and the condensate drain will largely run down through unused chimney flues to the basement. The ground floor of the in-laws does not require air conditioning for the time being, and if needed, it would receive its own separate outdoor unit. The company likely to install this is a local family business (established in 1978), and the owner is a certified refrigeration technician / master refrigeration technician.

The kW ratings are not a secret. The first three rooms require 2.0 kW each, and the other one needs 5.0 kW, which should cover everything.
