my name is Luise Bergmann, and I am a student at the University of Applied Sciences Bremen.
I am studying Applied Leisure Science and am currently writing my Bachelor’s thesis on the topic of experiential shopping through neuromarketing. As a practical example, I chose IKEA because I have been a longtime fan and spent my semester abroad in Sweden.
To make my work a bit more interactive, here is my question for you: Is a visit to IKEA an experiential shopping trip for you, or not? If yes, what makes the visit an experience for you?
I would appreciate many constructive responses for my Bachelor’s thesis!
Cheers to IKEA!
Best regards, Luise 😀

I always pick up decorating ideas as well. And I basically always come home feeling completely satisfied, as long as I haven’t spent too much money there... I’m sure we can all relate to that.

Yes, it’s always quite an experience. The size, the atmosphere, and especially the restaurant are always a nice experience. When you reach the restaurant, you know that half the journey is done!
I always find it helpful as an overview to know exactly where you are in the huge building 😀! Best regards

thank you very much for your post.
I was just at an IKEA restaurant yesterday, and as usual, it was really good.
Not so quiet, other IKEA fans, share your opinions!
Feel free to also tell me what you don’t like and might want improved—I’m open-minded and would like to consider both sides.
Best regards, Luise

Hello Luise,
Yes, shopping or visiting Ikea is quite an experience! When we (my husband almost always comes along) finish our shopping at Ikea and head to our car, we always have a good laugh watching the people around us.
It’s hard to believe how many people stand in front of the store with their fully loaded shopping carts, trying to figure out how to fit all their purchases into their vehicle. And honestly, in many cases, we find ourselves thinking along with them, especially when we see their cars. I even think some have considered leaving their children there to pack their purchases! 🙂 I wish our store had an outdoor café area. Then we’d be regulars there.
Best regards,
crluise
