Is it true that a solar system complicates firefighting efforts in case of a fire? I recently heard that installing a main disconnect switch on the exterior of the house can help the firefighters in an emergency.

I have also seen this in a fire department report. Apart from the electrical issue (main switch), access to a burning attic is more difficult. Since the roofs of single-family homes are rarely completely covered with solar panels, this is usually not such a big problem. Perhaps you could contact the local fire department to find a good compromise between solar energy use and fire safety.

During the commissioning of my latest photovoltaic system installed on a carport, I invited the fire department. It was explained that the fire department follows current guidelines for fire prevention related to photovoltaic systems, which do not require any additional measures.

Of course, there is a risk involved 🙂 Solar panels are not placed on Sondermühl without reason; it can even be life-threatening.

This information is new to me. It’s good that there are fire safety regulations for solar systems—I understand that. I believe a network disconnector is the right solution, and it must activate immediately in case of a fire.

It is true that firefighting efforts are more difficult with a solar panel system. That is why the fire department must be contacted before installing a solar panel system. I think this is a good practice.
