Good evening everyone,
we are currently building a semi-detached house through a developer and need to plan the garage. We would like to install a wood-burning stove in the living room in the future, with a flue pipe running along the exterior wall. The stove will be located roughly in the middle between the window and the garage. How do you assess the position; will a sectional garage door be necessary here? Unfortunately, I don’t have exact measurements yet; I am still waiting for feedback. Maybe someone can already offer some advice. Best regards and thank you!

I am aware of stainless steel chimneys that start only at 2 meters (6.5 feet) height, but I wouldn’t risk it. Choose the sectional door! It looks better anyway!

I see the sectional door as only helping you in terms of the space needed for its own upward movement. However, the narrowing of the driveway caused by the pipe still remains. If it’s the usual 3m (10 feet) building setback garage with an interior width of 2.82m (9 feet 3 inches), the maneuvering and folding in of mirrors will make you regret the chimney (which will probably only be decorative anyway in a room following energy saving regulations).
