Good morning everyone, I am about to assemble an IKEA Brimnes wardrobe set and wonder if it is really advisable to have a second person help during the assembly. My specific question is: Is it beneficial to assemble the IKEA Brimnes with a second person, assuming you have some basic DIY understanding, to save time and effort, or is it also manageable alone without compromising the quality or safety of the construction? I would appreciate hearing about your experiences, especially regarding the more difficult steps and handling the larger parts.

The most critical construction step for Brimnes is attaching the back panel and erecting the cabinet frame, especially for tall cabinets. Without a second person, it can be quite difficult to accurately align and screw in the back panel, as it often tends to warp. Also, standing up complete units can become unstable if no one assists with tipping or holding them. Those with solid DIY skills and enough time can handle these steps alone but should be careful to avoid any deformations or damage.

I would like to add that with the Brimnes series, some of the screw connections are quite difficult to reach when working alone. Therefore, having a second person is helpful to hold and slightly adjust the components, making the screwing process easier. Even if you have enough time working alone, the individual steps are ergonomically easier to manage when a second person is present to support or hold the heavier parts.

In short: Assembling the Brimnes is much easier, faster, and safer with two people. It can be done alone, but it takes more time and requires extra caution when lifting large parts.

Are there specific steps in assembling the Brimnes series that are particularly challenging and definitely require a second person?

When assembling the Brimnes wardrobe, installing the back panel and standing up the frame are definitely the stages where having a second person is most beneficial. The back panel needs to be fitted precisely and cleanly to ensure stability. Additionally, for taller models, it helps to have someone hold the large panels in place while screwing them together to prevent misalignment.

I would like to add from personal experience that the order of the assembly steps for Brimnes also saves time when working in pairs. While one person prepares the screws and checks the positions, the other can already sort materials or unpack additional components. This makes the overall process significantly more efficient than doing everything step by step alone.

I agree and would like to add that besides the time advantage, physical strain is also a crucial factor. Holding or properly aligning larger components alone for an extended time often leads to fatigue, which increases the likelihood of errors. Having a second person not only reduces physical stress but also significantly improves the accuracy of the assembly.
