ᐅ Is a Satellite System Still Necessary for New Builds, or Is IPTV Sufficient?

Hello everyone,
Please forgive me if I haven’t searched through hundreds of pages. My basic question is whether you still consider a satellite dish necessary or if you would just skip it altogether. About our profile: When we watch TV, it’s exclusively public broadcasting channels and no private channels. However, mostly we watch on-demand content like Netflix, Amazon Prime, and so on. In this context, we’re really starting to doubt whether we can save ourselves the 850 EUR gross. What do you think? Should we just stream the public broadcasting channels via Apple TV, or is it still better to have a satellite dish installed?
Thanks & good luck, Commanderchen

It can’t be that I have to pay for private channels, whether streaming or HD.
We are probably only including satellite installation in the scope of work description. It’s currently not connected in our home either. We also had satellite (installation) included in the scope of work description and were able to have the electrician replace it with network outlets. So we’re expecting two network sockets per room at no extra cost.
To each their own. I spent about half a thousand euros on the satellite system, which just blended into the background noise and has long since paid off. This way, I’m not dependent on any monthly subscriptions and don’t have to pay anything else.
At most, I renew the HD+ card once a year. Okay, but we don’t watch Sky either.

I haven’t had TV reception for two years now, neither cable TV nor satellite. I don’t miss it at all. When I feel like it, I watch streaming services (mostly Amazon Prime, sometimes Zattoo), and the quality is excellent. Nowadays, I consider satellite a waste of money. In a few years, people will only stream. You can skip the ugly dish on the roof and not have to worry about the weather. For my new build, I am no longer including a satellite dish.
I am also torn at the moment. The electrician from the general contractor is offering me a 6-user system (with multiswitch and surge protection) (where 2 or 4 users would be more than enough) from Wisi for a total of €880. So a maximum of €500 would still be something to consider. But thanks to IPTV, which works great, I am really wondering if that wouldn’t be sufficient.
