Hello everyone,

I am currently planning my kitchen using the Ikea planner and want to equip all cabinet doors with the Utrusta push-to-open mechanism, where possible. The drawers will get the Blankett handle.

Is it possible to have the top refrigerator door (and the freezer door below) in the tall cabinet also open with the push-to-open system? Or is the force not sufficient for that?

Thinking about it, it probably won’t work because of the heavy refrigerator door, but maybe someone has experience and it actually does?

If all else fails, I’ll just have to put the longest Blankett handle vertically on the refrigerator, but without it would look cleaner.

Thanks a lot and have a nice evening,

Hello,
there probably isn’t enough space to install the door closers. In addition, I would need to press the door in sufficiently to activate the mechanism. I would advise against it.

This cannot work simply because the electric latch does not have enough force to open the refrigerator door. You can tell just by how much strength it takes for a person to open a fridge door. You really have to pull firmly. An electric latch cannot achieve this, especially not if the door has just been closed and needs to be opened immediately again (vacuum effect).
