topasHello community,
We are currently planning our new kitchen and have come across a clever solution to address the issue of not having a table in our small kitchen. At a "high-end" kitchen showroom, we noticed a display model featuring a pull-out countertop hidden behind a drawer. Unfortunately, I couldn’t find anything like this at IKEA, so I wanted to ask here if anyone knows of such a product or has perhaps built something similar themselves.
Thanks in advance for your replies.

IKEA-Experte9 Oct 2014 12:33Hello, IKEA doesn’t offer something like that. It shouldn’t be too difficult to make it yourself.
With constructions like this, you need to carefully consider whether you would actually use it. I would start by installing a standard drawer and then, when using the kitchen, pay attention to whether I miss having such a surface and if I can manage with one drawer less for it.

I can only agree with IKEA-Expert.
These extendable tables were popular years ago and often resulted in two chairs awkwardly standing around when the table with the pull-out drawer was pushed in. As a child in the 1970s, I often stumbled over chairs in kitchens at my aunt’s and friends’ homes that only made sense upon a closer look.
Best regards
