ᐅ Is it possible to build a panoramic fireplace for under €6,000?

Hello,
I recently visited a local fireplace installer to get advice and initial rough pricing for our new build project. I was quite shocked when he said that the smallest panoramic fireplace would cost over €10,000 (about $11,000).

So my question to you: Does anyone know of a good and affordable manufacturer of so-called panoramic fireplaces? Kits are also welcome since the budget, as mentioned, is quite far from the initial offer :/

For those interested, the quote was from Hark.
We are not looking for a fireplace with water heating or other fancy features. It should simply be an "ambient fireplace," so heating capacity and similar factors are not important.

Thanks in advance!

We have a Spartherm Ares!
We are very satisfied with it, a beautiful wood stove.
However, it is quite a substantial unit, weighing nearly 500 kg (1,100 lbs) with a nominal output of 7.5 kW (25,600 BTU), so it should be installed in a suitably sized room.
Panorama fireplaces do not perform well with too little wood; otherwise, you will find yourself constantly cleaning the glass.

I am planning to install a Schiedel Absolut 18-TL chimney in a KfW55 new build with a central ventilation system (+ exhaust hood in the kitchen). The builder wants 5 kW for this. What should I consider if I want to connect a 5 kW fireplace with panoramic glazing to it? Does anyone have experience with this?

Your question isn’t really specific to three-sided fireplaces, as you would have to ask the same for other types of fireplaces as well. But here are my two cents: The main issue will probably be the combination of the exhaust hood and the fireplace, as you probably already know. Your energy consultant will need to calculate this and advise you accordingly. Also, I know that in the past it was important to ensure the chimney diameter matched the fireplace’s output. However, I only know this from older houses where very large chimneys were installed. In those cases, pipes were inserted if the nominal output of the fireplace was too low. I can’t imagine this is still necessary with modern chimneys since they are not designed to be that large anymore. Your stove supplier will also be able to advise you on this matter.

To come back to the topic of "affordable" panoramic fireplaces, we will probably go with the Olsberg Osorno, which I can purchase directly through our building materials supplier, and it currently costs around 5,000€ (about $5,400).

We also looked at the Osorno model, but it was just a bit too small for us. However, it is very stylish. Have fun!
