ᐅ Is an interior garage depth of 570 cm sufficient for future cars?

chipchapHello everyone,
we are currently planning to build a double garage with a storage room and are unsure about the interior depth of the garage. Unfortunately, we cannot build endlessly (due to site coverage ratio, etc.) and have therefore considered an interior depth of 570cm (224 inches) as a compromise. Do you also find that sufficient for cars? Of course, more space is always better, but that’s not the question here.
I couldn’t find any information about vehicle lengths with the tailgate open. For example, a Skoda Superb Combi is already 486cm (191 inches) long, and with the trunk open, it’s certainly about 30cm (12 inches) longer. Then I need space to load, plus about 14cm (6 inches) in front to avoid hitting the wall. That leaves approximately 70cm (28 inches) for loading. With a stroller and so on, I suspect it will get cramped in the garage, although I haven’t tested it yet.
What has been your experience?
Thanks

Your question is almost impossible to answer. You mention 570 cm (225 inches), which seems to refer to the length, and a compromise (but between what?). We don’t know the spatial layout, where the access to the storage room is located, whether you are parking the cars front-in/front-out, rear-in/front-out, or rear-in/rear-out, and so on. There is no planned house in your thread history yet—so are you trying to put the cart before the horse?

Are there any plans or sketches?
The longer the garage, the better. However, the width of the garage should also be considered. Loft means two gasoline engines, right?
If you want to comfortably load the Superb with the garage door closed—stroller, luggage for a trip, etc.—it should be at least 6 m (20 feet) in my opinion.

A double garage with two cars and walking space around them to maneuver a stroller will already be quite spacious. Otherwise, 570cm (224 inches) should be sufficient, although possibly a bit tight.

I still remember loading the car with the garage door open. Or driving out of the garage for a holiday. I’m old 😳It doesn’t have to be obvious to the whole street/neighbors or passing cars that you’re going on holiday. And if it rains while loading the car... (which can be avoided...)
You can load the car discreetly and leave for your holiday without drawing attention...
