Hello everyone,

we are currently wondering whether a carport is considered an outbuilding. In other words, if a carport also falls under Section 6 of our zoning plan regulations.

This raises the question of whether it is possible to build the carport outside the designated building area (buildable zones).

Attached is an excerpt from the zoning plan.

Perhaps someone can provide a definite answer.

Many thanks in advance.

Best regards,

As far as I know, carports are considered outbuildings and would therefore fall under Paragraph 6. Whether there are exceptions depending on the federal state, you can probably check most easily in your regional building regulations. But I rather doubt it.

It probably depends on the federal state. In Saxony, carports are considered garages.

The federal state is Bavaria.

Bavaria and Saxony are the same.

... just as a carport is a garage.
