ᐅ Is a canopy like this really feasible?

Hello everyone,
my wife found the following porch canopy online and now wants to have one like it.
(enter “build your own porch canopy – weather protection in front of the entrance door” on Google, first result after the ads)

What I’m wondering is, our roof tiles weigh about 250 kg (550 lbs) at that size—will the structure really support that? Has anyone built something similar with only two vertical posts?

Since we have insulation on the wall, I would use Fischer’s system for ETICS (external thermal insulation composite systems) with 16 mm (0.63 inch) threaded rods instead of anchoring directly into the wall, and mount the two posts on wall brackets attached to the house facade.

I’m not opposed to having four posts, but we have a side path to the front door, and with four posts, from the garden gate you'd be walking straight into one of those posts on the way to the front door...

Alternatively, we’re considering using three posts and only connecting the front one as shown in the instructions. However, I have no idea how that would look.

Maybe someone has experience with this or has already built something similar.

Best regards,
Patrick

If you showed us the porch roof, we could say something about it. ;-)

Hello,

since a link apparently violates the forum rules (it was removed) and I do not hold any copyright to the post/images, I wrote above how you can view it 🙂

On Google:
enter "build your own canopy – weather protection in front of the entrance door" and the first result after the ads will be it.
