Hello everyone,
do you need a building permit / planning permission for a carport and a garden shed? We are planning to build a carport and have heard from neighbors that you have to apply for a permit. Is that really the case? It’s just a carport after all. The same question applies to the planned garden shed. Do you also need a permit for that? Thanks in advance for your information!
Best regards, Janni 🙂

Hi,

yes, it does sound a bit strange that neighbors have to agree if you want to build something on your own property. But as we know, many things are possible that we initially think are impossible.

Best regards,
Mara 😉

Hello everyone,
my carport is now finished. I haven’t had any trouble with the neighbors either. They also believe that what I do on my property is none of their business, as long as they are not disturbed in any way. So, lucky me! 😎

hehe... everything usually goes well as long as you follow one basic principle:
your own freedom ends where the freedom of others begins

Hello homeworker,
the principle is great. I need to remember that. Many people should take it to heart as well. 😀 That would lead to far fewer neighborhood disputes.

Hello! Well, I needed a building permit / planning permission. Here, you need one for almost everything... 😉 But that’s not the case everywhere. I would check with your local authorities.

My parents built a garden shed and didn’t need a building permit/planning permission for it. It really seems to be different everywhere. The whole thing about needing permits for everything is quite annoying... especially the fact that you don’t have to get approval just to have a mouse hole in the kitchen...
