Hello everyone,
I’m looking for a new vanity with a cabinet for my rental apartment because the back wall is made of drywall and won’t support sinks on their own.
At first, I was excited about countertop basins, but for practical reasons, I’ve moved away from them and am now looking for an integrated vanity unit. So, a full-surface ceramic sink (I prefer ceramic for ease of cleaning).
The bathroom is quite long and offers plenty of space for a large vanity. The tiled backsplash is 2 meters (6 ft 7 in) wide, so I was thinking about a 160 cm (63 inches) vanity. Unfortunately, these tend to be quite expensive—starting from about €1,400. I could put together a budget solution with Ikea cabinets (Metod or 2x Godmorgon), but honestly, I’m not too keen on assembling everything myself…
There are many more options for 120 cm (47 inches) double sinks, and I could get a solid, pre-assembled unit for around €800.
Do you think a 120 cm (47 inches) double vanity is sufficient, especially if there is plenty of space available in the bathroom, or would you recommend investing more in a longer vanity?
Attached are pictures of the old and new condition (maybe I’m fixated on an extra-long vanity just because of how the old setup was? On the other hand, what else do you do with the space if it’s there…).
Thanks and best regards
