I’m quite sure this problem didn’t exist last week, but yesterday I noticed that some of the rose leaves looked completely eaten away. Then I spotted this nasty green cluster of aphids on the flower, and on practically every one. And we have a lot of roses.
The ones in front of the front door are also infested.
I went to the garden center right away today, and they gave me Cefaclor. I’m going to mix it as soon as the sun goes down, and then get started. The salesperson said I need to treat every leaf. That’s hardly possible with such dense foliage—there are thousands of leaves!

I crush lice: gently circle the blossom with thumb and index finger
Yes, nitrogen deficiency. I told my husband, who already watered yesterday. But first, I need to get rid of the clover.

Clover in the lawn is a sign of nitrogen deficiency. So if you fertilize regularly (and of course water)

Yvonne, get a bag of Blaukorn fertilizer from the agricultural supply store. Spread it evenly and water it in. Alternatively, apply it before a rain shower. With a bit of luck, the lawn will outcompete the clover patch. Your tufts will too; that is forage grass, which also thrives in nutrient-poor meadows. However, the fine, soft lawn grass simply requires a bit more nutrition.
To get rid of lice, I spray dissolved core soap. It usually works very well, but it’s a bit unpleasant since the entire leaf surface needs to be wet. So, you spray the leaves and massage them. Yuck.
However, if I see that the ladybugs have already started feeding on them, I just leave it – most of the time they manage to control the situation well. This year, the lice also destroyed our apple tree. And the late frost killed the walnut blossoms. There’s always something!

Well, then I’m not the only one with this problem. Here, there is also a severe aphid infestation on the vegetable plants, the pear tree, the sour cherry, and all the roses... really bad. The leaves on the pear tree are already turning black, and black fruit is falling off.
I have now tried a mixture of neem oil and water, which is supposed to work well. I will report back.
