ᐅ Insulation Between Rafters – Which Material?

Hello,
I have two issues in my attic: quite high or low temperatures and mice.
The roof structure consists of roof tiles – battens – Delta membrane – 16 cm (6.3 inches) rafters spaced about 55...56 cm (22...22 inches) apart.
The attic floor is made up of 24 mm (0.94 inches) chipboard panels – membrane – 16 cm (6.3 inches) wooden beams – 16 cm (6.3 inches) Rockwool insulation wedges – membrane – battens – wooden panels.
You cannot stand upright in the attic.

Since the attic gets very warm in summer and very cold in winter, I want to add minimal insulation between the rafters.
The main goal is to protect the many stored items in the attic from heat and cold.

On one side of my house, there is about a 50 cm (20 inches) wide rain trough where roof tiles and Delta membrane overlap by several centimeters.
The work was not done very neatly, so crawling insects can enter the attic at some points between the rain trough and the roof/Delta membrane.
At the moment, everyone seems to be away on vacation, but it is not winter yet. 🙄

The more I research insulation, the more questions I have:
- Do I need to leave an air gap between the insulation and the Delta membrane?
- Which material should I use for insulation (wood fiber – hemp – polystyrene – glass/mineral wool)?
- Are boards or rolled materials easier to install?
- What is the purpose of the aluminum foil in some materials?
- With which material can I skip an additional membrane (vapor barrier)?
- Is 40 mm (1.6 inches) of insulation enough (the rafters are 16 cm (6.3 inches), but I would like to keep some space between the insulation and the rafters)?

Maybe someone can give me some advice.
