Hello everyone,
I want to insulate and soundproof a room in our house. Since the room often gets loud due to music and so on, I want to make sure the neighbor doesn’t hear too much of it.

What would be the best soundproofing solution?

Thanks,
Regards, Patrick

Hello,
I imagine that a hi-fi forum might be more helpful regarding this.

Thank you, I will take a look around then. However, I don’t want it to be obvious. It should end up like a double wall covered with drywall panels.

There are certainly better alternatives than egg cartons.
One piece of advice from us here: when it comes to a rental agreement, you can’t just double up a wall 😉

It's about our own home 😉

Hello,

There are special soundproof walls or, in your case, a secondary stud wall. Construction-wise, it’s not different from a drywall partition but is covered with diamond boards and densely filled with mineral wool. I have a few product suggestions, but I definitely don’t want to do any advertising 😉

My question is: Is it live music or a band practicing in the room? If so, it might also be a good idea to install some sound-absorbing elements on the ceiling or walls. Egg cartons, due to their shape, don’t necessarily provide soundproofing but rather transmit sound.
