To my surprise, interior plastering is scheduled to start at our place next week. The current temperatures fluctuate between -5 and -15 degrees Celsius (23 to 5 degrees Fahrenheit). According to the forecast, this is expected to continue for now.
Is it even possible for the plaster to set properly at these temperatures, or could it already arrive frozen? The exterior door and windows are installed, but there are no roller shutters yet, so the open roller shutter boxes let in a lot of drafts. The plasterers plan to bring a heater and cover the roller shutter boxes with plastic foil, but the house has cooled down significantly. The current inside temperature is -2 degrees Celsius (28 degrees Fahrenheit)...

Hello homebuilders 2012,
the wall temperature (inside) and the room temperature are important; they must consistently be above +5°C (41°F).
This also needs to be the case during the drying of the plaster.

The construction should be kept at an appropriate temperature to prevent freezing. Otherwise, there will be issues with the plaster mortar setting. Drying out should not be a problem but could take longer due to the lower temperatures and higher humidity.
