ᐅ Interior paintwork: Poor quality or acceptable?

Hello everyone,

In our apartment (newly built), we had some walls painted in color.

As you can see in the photos, the walls were not painted all the way up to the ceiling. There are clearly visible uneven edges in some spots more than others.

Do I have to accept this, or is it considered a defect?

Thank you very much for your help!

Best regards,

Jegor

It’s simply a matter of personal taste. Such historicizing elements probably don’t work well in modern flat-roofed Bauhaus-style houses.
Yes, and in Versailles they would be too plain. There are unsuitable places for everything.

But here in this poor neighborhood, they fit as well as a square peg in a round hole.
It’s just an idea to quickly and inexpensively cover the bumpy ceiling edges from the OP’s wall painting. You can buy a box of 10 for a few euros, use some adhesive or silicone, and voilà, done.

The molding also fits well with simple, low-cost houses, which are often discussed here.
It’s always impressive how “time-tested” craftsmanship techniques are dismissed just because people have no idea.

Is it just me, or are you always this grumpy?
Reminds me a bit of people who walk around all day at work with a sour face but still keep showing up. As if they’re being forced.

But anyway, I don’t understand your “expertise.” Such a decorative molding simply doesn’t visually fit into the modern, angular, anthracite-accented building you call a low-cost house. At best, you could appreciate it as an intentional style clash.

Not at all. I am very calm and therefore question many things, especially the typical barroom clichés.
The better my mood, the more critically I question.
Moldings... by now this was probably about corner moldings (there are right-angled ones as well), which fit just as well into the look as the box staircase.
The external appearance of the quoted low-cost houses, by the way taken from the quote by @Nordlys #20, are by no means houses where you can afford to be eccentric.

It comes across completely differently to me.
But now I know how I need to interpret it.
