Dear forum members,

I am about to place an order of over 1000 EUR for Alpenkalk products (approximately for 500 m² (5400 sq ft) of primer and 600 m² (6500 sq ft) of paint plus some accessories). Normally, I like to do some research beforehand.

So: Does anyone have practical experience with this?
How are the delivery times, quality, customer service in case of issues, coverage, color fastness, paintability, odor, and abrasion resistance?
What alternatives would you recommend and why?

Thanks and best regards

The second coat of paint provided good coverage.

No need to fill with words and clutter the forum
How many square meters (sq ft) did you ultimately paint or roll with it?
The consumption is usually higher than stated.
But it should provide coverage!

From their website:
AlpenKalk covers with just one coat – you will be satisfied. Guaranteed. 🙄

About 50.
Their specification of 2 coats for the bucket is probably not an overestimation, except that they advertise it as covering after the first coat already.
A second coat is only necessary in cases of strong contrast. However, I don’t think that applies here. It is a gypsum plaster.
In some areas, I feel like it doesn’t cover at all, while in others it covers very well.
I have applied primer everywhere (also from Alpenkalk).
I’m starting to think there might be something wrong with the plaster after all.
How can you identify sintered surfaces on gypsum plaster?

You can usually tell when applying the primer. If the plaster darkens and the primer soaks in well, everything is fine. If a sintering layer has formed, it won’t properly absorb the primer.

Arrgh, then that might have happened. I noticed this when applying the primer; it didn’t darken evenly... does it all have to be removed?

I think so. It wasn’t necessary for us, so I didn’t look into it further. It wasn’t completely even for us either, but apparently good enough since you could at least see that it was absorbed. I’ve read something about using citric acid or mechanical removal.
