Dear forum members,
I am about to place an order of over 1000 EUR for Alpenkalk products (approximately for 500 m² (5400 sq ft) of primer and 600 m² (6500 sq ft) of paint plus some accessories). Normally, I like to do some research beforehand.
So: Does anyone have practical experience with this?
How are the delivery times, quality, customer service in case of issues, coverage, color fastness, paintability, odor, and abrasion resistance?
What alternatives would you recommend and why?
Thanks and best regards
Tolentino

I haven’t decided on the colors yet, but if you value the properties of lime paint, I would be cautious about Alpenkalk because they don’t provide a full declaration of ingredients. At least, I couldn’t find one quickly.
The safety data sheet states that it contains dispersion, which you generally want to avoid in lime (if you have the appropriate plaster) and vapor-permeable systems.
I find the “lime plaster lie” very insightful, and Mr. Engist is very open and helpful.
We will be using Hessler on the walls; they also offer paints.

No, I’m using gypsum plaster anyway.
I’m not aiming for 100% effectiveness, but rather a user-friendly compromise.
However, I think that only with a proper lime content can mold at least be somewhat inhibited. And if it’s not just pure acrylic paint, moisture is at least somewhat regulated.

Update on Alpenkalk: either I’m doing something wrong, or the dispersion in Alpenkalk is really very low concentration.
It covers very poorly and the consumption is much higher despite using a primer.
I needed a whole 11 kg (24 lb) bucket for a children’s room, and according to calculations, 6 should have been enough for the entire house.
I’m currently trying to negotiate a goodwill return for the remaining 5 buckets of Alpenkalk and will then switch products.
Does anyone have recommendations? Are dispersive silicate paints any good?

It provides very poor coverage, and the consumption is much higher even with primer.

Does anyone have a recommendation? Are dispersion silicate paints any good? We painted almost everywhere with Stocolor Sil In directly onto the gypsum plaster. But twice we had to apply a second coat. That’s probably normal with any paint. And the consumption was also more than stated. But I haven’t found any paint yet where the stated coverage was actually enough. Whether wall paint or anything else.
Only in the hallway we used textured paint, because I find gypsum plaster too sensitive.
