Marcus B.18 Jan 2013 13:17Hello,
we plan to carry out the interior finishing (walls and ceiling) of our precast concrete basement ourselves. The basement walls are currently not insulated on the outside (this is planned for the future). Which materials should I use for this? An anhydrite screed has already been installed on the floor. Otherwise, the walls and ceiling area are still in their raw state. Are standard drywall boards sufficient here, or do I need to use special types? What should I install on the ceiling?
Thank you in advance.
Best regards
Marcus B.

Marcus B.4 Feb 2013 10:31Hello,
thank you for your response. Do you also have a prefabricated basement, and if so, how is the space used? (Living area, or more as a recreational room or storage). Have you experienced any issues with mold?

Hello Marcus B.,
yes, we also have a prefabricated basement. At the moment it is only used for storage, but it is planned to become a hobby room and guest bedroom.
We have no issues with mold. Since the basement is not connected to the mechanical ventilation system, we just air it out briefly every two days or so. The humidity level stays between 48 and 58 percent.
