Hi everyone,

Since there are some irrigation experts here, I’m optimistic that my "problem" will be solved.

I’m currently wondering how to perfectly coordinate my robotic lawn mower with the irrigation controller.

I’m using a Bosch Indego S+ 400, and on my desk, I have a Hydrawise Pro HC controller. With the Bosch Indego, I can set specific time windows during which mowing is allowed based on weather data. How does this work with Hydrawise?

In my opinion, there are several options:
1. Watering in the morning – mowing in the evening
+ Morning watering is, according to my research, optimal
- Evening mowing could be annoying for the neighbors (and us) on the terrace

2. Mowing at night – watering in the morning
+ Optimal timing for watering
+ Neighbors are not disturbed while sitting on the terrace
- Mowing at night is unfriendly to animals

3. Mowing in the morning – watering in the evening
+ No one gets disturbed
- Neither watering nor mowing is at the optimal time

What do you think? For mowing, a time window of about 4 hours should be set.

Best regards

Yes, in midsummer also twice a week. But many make the mistake of watering too often but too little. It is better to apply 20 liters per m² (2.1 gallons per sq ft) and a maximum of twice per week.

1-2 times is suitable for most types and soils. “Robotic lawn” has shallow roots, requires rainfall almost daily, and above all, a robotic mower.

That's right, you shouldn't water and mow every day of the week. So maybe just alternate between the two?

As mentioned, for some types of grass it is necessary. For most, it is not.

Regarding mowing in the evening or at night, I would like to point out that hedgehogs are nocturnal and do not flee from the mower but curl up, which can result in serious injuries.
Therefore, I would recommend mowing in the morning. This is what all the other neighbors do, and it is likely better in terms of noise levels than mowing in the evening.
Watering is also better in the morning.

The mower is so quiet that you can even mow at night. However, if the area capacity is sufficiently oversized, this is not necessary. Some models with ultrasonic sensors can detect hedgehogs. I would still prefer to mow during the day. It’s also relaxing to watch. When children are around, you just need to time it so they are either not present or asleep...
