Hello everyone,

I have a question about a material that’s been on my mind lately. What kind of material am I dealing with here (see attached image)?
Is it Heraklith, wood fiber, or wood wool lightweight boards? I’m a bit concerned...

Thanks in advance for your expert help.

Best regards

Tim

How old is the house? It looks like "Sauerkraut boards" – that would be wood fiber insulation.

Thank you for the quick response.

The house was built around 1968. The ceiling and the walls inside the dormers are "insulated" like this, with plaster applied on top. So, relatively non-critical materials? Is the concern about asbestos rather unfounded?

Safety can only be confirmed by an expert if comprehensive testing is done.
If the panels are the sauerkraut-type, then yes, they are considered safe.
