We have a new build with external thermal insulation composite system (ETICS), and the top coat plaster was recently applied. Below the lift-and-slide window, a drainage channel still needs to be installed by the landscaper, so part of the insulation is currently exposed. Some of this area has been covered with base coat plaster, but not fully.
I was quite surprised during my last site visit to see that the insulation has significantly melted away in the areas where no base coat plaster was applied. I can only assume this happened due to strong sun exposure (it’s the south-facing side).
Question: What is the correct approach here? Does this need to be replaced entirely, or is it enough to just fill it in? Is this considered a defect, or was the work possibly not done according to professional standards?
Attached are two pictures. The white drops are the top coat plaster (in my opinion, the work could have been neater), the dark gray is the insulation, and the light gray is the base coat plaster.
Thank you!
