Good morning,

My wife and I are currently in the preliminary planning stage for our meeting with the architect. We are considering installing a 270-degree fireplace in the living room. However, it looks like if we place the fireplace in the desired spot, the chimney flue will run through the bedroom. From experience, I know that in older houses, chimney flues can radiate a lot of heat. Since I prefer to sleep at 18°C (64°F) rather than at 25°C (77°F), I am curious whether this is still the case in new houses (Allkauf prefabricated house). If so, we would need to find an alternative location for the fireplace.

Thank you in advance.

Best regards,
Christopher

Hi,
I assume that Allkauf Haus, as part of the Deutsche Fertighaus Holding group, uses a Schiedel chimney flue. It is a chimney flue made of prefabricated components.

We have the same one. The products are really good.

There are no longer any issues with excessive heat!

Best regards,
Thorsten

Good morning,

I thought no one would reply here anymore. I was about to unregister.

Anyway, thank you for your response.

Have a nice weekend.

Thank you! Same to you.

By the way, sometimes you only see a post later.

If you have any more questions – feel free to message me privately. After all, I also built a house with Deutsche Fertighaus Holding, and the processes with Allkauf Haus and others are similar.

Our chimney goes directly through the bedroom, but you don’t notice it at all. The chimney is insulated to heat up faster (less heat loss) and therefore draw better more quickly. Every father who has a chimney in the old house at home raves about the great draft in the new build ^^

Ours dries incredibly fast, like the proverbial lightning. Truly impressive.
