Paulemann18 May 2019 10:40Hello everyone,
I accidentally drilled into the vapor barrier in the wall. At first, I thought the insulation looked a bit gray. However, when smelling it, there is no odor. It is also not damp. Shouldn't the insulation smell moldy or be damp if it were moldy?
Unfortunately, I can’t take a photo because I don’t want to damage the vapor barrier any further.
Best regards

garfunkel25 May 2019 21:49This could be mold or simply dust. If it is dust, it means it was either introduced during installation or there is air leakage in the insulation. Air leakage would be a good sign, as it likely means it is not mold; however, insulation that allows air leakage does not insulate very well. Without a photo, it is difficult to say more.
