Hello,

I took some thermal images of our house and noticed that the foundation appears quite warm in the pictures. The house is a prefabricated timber-frame building from 1980 with underfloor heating and no basement. Is it normal for the concrete slab to be this warm when using underfloor heating, or is it possible to insulate it properly afterwards?

Besides the concrete slab and the two brightly glowing windows (which still have old window glass), do you notice anything else that could be improved?

Thank you very much for your help in advance!

Hello,
it seems to me that the joint between the wall and floor of the prefabricated house was not sealed properly; the heat loss is not caused by the slab itself, but by the joint.
If you want to improve your house’s thermal performance, adding external wall insulation would probably be the best option. This would also allow you to improve the wall-to-floor joint.
