Hello dear community,

I have bought an old house (built in 1950).
The house has a double brick masonry (partly with a cavity). I have now completely gutted the house (shell stage), and the contractors are starting a major renovation (roof, windows, heating, etc.). Almost only the walls will remain. The house has a full basement. I wanted to insulate the house using cavity insulation. The problem is that the walls only partly have cavities. Therefore, I was advised to use external insulation, which is said to cause problems as well (moisture, mold). However, I noticed that in summer temperatures (with the sun shining on the house all day) it is VERY cool inside the house, and in winter it stays relatively warm (heating off), which suggests the house is "relatively" well insulated. My question to you: Should I insulate it or not? The exterior facade will be plastered and painted white anyway. Best regards, Tomek
