Bert696Hello everyone,
I plan to insulate my basement ceiling this year to prevent cold feet in the living room (which has tiled flooring).
There are three rooms under consideration, ranging from 16 to 20 square meters (170 to 215 square feet). The basement ceiling has already been painted white. The ceiling surface is uneven (you can see the formwork made from wooden boards), so you can tell how it was constructed. One room has a radiator. One room is used frequently, while the others are mostly used as storage. The house was built in 1968 and is an end-terrace house without insulation. The basement ceiling height is about 2.10 meters (6 feet 11 inches). Fire protection requirements do not need to be observed. I was thinking of using 6 to 8 centimeters (2.4 to 3.1 inches) of insulation. The basement tends to be quite cool—how does that affect potential moisture issues?
With an uneven basement ceiling, what approach is better: adhesive, mechanical fasteners, or maybe a batt frame with mineral wool?
I hope you can give me some advice.
Regards
