Hello everyone,

I would like to cover the attic floor (roof space) with OSB panels to make it fully walkable. Currently, only the wooden beams are visible. I plan to install glass wool insulation (friction-fit batts) between the rafters. Can I simply install the insulation like this, or do I need a vapor barrier as well? The roof is already insulated with wool and foil.

Thanks in advance for your help. I’m attaching a few pictures.

However, it is not necessary to hire a professional. Simply place insulation wool in between, then add the boarding on top. The vapor barrier is not needed because 1. the wool releases moisture upwards and can do so, and 2. an airtight layer is not required here.

By forced ventilation, I meant that there is minimal air circulation in the attic. Otherwise, moisture will accumulate there.

So far, there has been no mechanical ventilation either. The attic is dry and dusty. I can’t imagine that there won’t be enough air circulation after installation.
