Hello,
I want to insulate the ceiling of the upper floor. I found a guide for this.
The following statement confuses me: "The storage space under the roof does not have to be lost: as long as the attic remains unheated, you can still walk on it."
The attic should remain accessible. I want to keep the option open to heat it at some point. Why would it no longer be possible to access the attic if it is heated? Or how should I understand this quote?

Does anyone have any idea where this hint comes from?Maybe it’s because you asked a question without providing any information... What kind of ceiling? Wooden ceiling, concrete ceiling, ... structure
What kind of roof? Cold roof, ventilated vs. unventilated
What type of insulation?
What is the insulation setup?
What does it mean: "As long as the storage remains unheated, you can continue to access it"? This is quite a general statement. Does it mean that as soon as the attic is heated, it can no longer be accessed? That doesn’t make sense, because if it were heated, it would likely be intended for use as living space.
In our case, there is OSB on top. This is going to be insulated now. However, I want to keep the option open to heat the attic at some point and use it as living space.
The roof is covered with roof tiles. Below that are the rafters. Between them is mineral wool insulation.

I'll ask a few more questions again. Just answer the questions. EVERY question:
- What type of ceiling?
- What kind of roof? Cold roof or warm roof? Ventilated or not?
- What kind of insulation are you planning?
- What is your planned insulation setup?
Also please answer:
- Why do you want to insulate the upper floor ceiling if the roof itself is already insulated?
- What kind of instructions are you quoting? Which roof/upper floor ceiling/insulation assembly does it refer to?
Then, and only then, can you expect an answer. It can't be that hard ;-)
