Hello everyone,

in front of our garage, there is an electrical cable where a light fixture might be installed at some point. Currently, nothing is connected to it. The cable is capped with a connector block wrapped in electrical tape. We cannot take power from this cable because the shower toilet is also connected to it.

Now the question: Is this insulation sufficient, or would you recommend something else?

Hi,
I'm not an expert, but if the end of the cable is out of reach of tall people, that should be sufficient as protection against accidental contact. If it hangs lower, it would be better to terminate it in a surface-mounted distribution box, for example, with appropriate cable clips to prevent it from being pulled out.

Regarding insulation against weather and short circuits, it depends on whether the cable end is exposed to rain or is sufficiently protected, for example, by a roof overhang. If in doubt, using a distribution box is the safer option here as well.
